If you don't like sitting and translating texts on different topics you may simply work as interpreter communicating with people and meeting foreigners. But if you prefer sitting in the office and looking for unknown words and word combinations, the work of translator is for you.
The written translation is the part of wide range of duties of interpreters and translators. This profession gives you the possibility to self-estimate in many spheres. You may find different kinds of translations that would correspond to your interests. There are such kinds of translation as: consecutive interpretation, simultaneous interpretation/translation, written and oral, etc.
The gift of interpreter is to change languages. In fact they have the possibility to change codes of their communication helping people to understand each other. Interpreter has to get the main sense of the phrase, to decode it and then to give another code to it so that another person could understand him/her.
Interpreters and translators work with written and oral texts on different topics. That is why they have to appeal to different sources literal and non-literal.
